Overview
There is a complex and unique interplay of factors contributing to your infertility, so the tests we arrange and the treatment plan we work out are individualised to your situation. During fertility treatment, looking after your physical and mental health is very important, as treatment sometimes takes longer than you anticipate. We may need to try a number of different options before finding a treatment that works for you. It is important to carry on with your normal life, keep positive, and not worry too much about what other people are doing.
If you have concerns, discuss them with me or your GP.
Specialist fertility treatments
In vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI): Fertilising mature eggs in the laboratory and transferring them to the uterus.
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI): Injecting a single sperm into an egg.
In vitro maturation (IVM): Maturing and fertilising eggs in the laboratory, before transferring to the uterus.
Ovulation induction (OI): Stimulating ovulation in women with irregular periods.
Artificial insemination (IUI): Inserting prepared sperm into the uterus just before ovulation.
Egg freezing: Storing eggs for future use, for women who are not ready to start their family yet.
For some women and same sex couples, using a surrogate (another women who can carry the baby) is the only hope of becoming a parent.
