Depending on your circumstances, there are a number of procedures which may be suggested to increase your chances of conceiving. These procedures may be used to investigate the causes of your infertility, to treat known fertility issues, or both.

Specialist fertility surgery

• Laparoscopy: Also known as keyhole surgery. A very small microscope is used to diagnose and treat a range of conditions including endometriosis, tubal disease, pelvic scar tissue, ovarian cysts and fibroids. It can also be helpful in the diagnosis of tubal patency and endometriosis abnormalities.

• Diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis: Endometriosis is a common condition where cells from the inside of the uterus grow outside it. It can cause infertility, and is usually removed surgically.

• Hysteroscopy: A thin, lighted tube is used to examine the lining of the uterus to detect and treat any abnormality of the uterine cavity, such as small polyps, abnormal scar tissue, uterine septum, and intrauterine fibroids.

• Myomectomy: This is the surgical method for removing fibroids, and can be combined with laparoscopy or hysteroscopy, or with open surgery.

• Microsurgeries: In microsurgery, I use an operating microscope to repair very small structures such as blockages in the fallopian tubes, or reversing a vasectomy.
